Where the treatise says, "whether the place where it moves, whether where it moves up to, whether as it moves, whether when it moves," and so forth: this concludes the meanings above. "Whether the place where it moves" designates the various apertures above, that is, the coarse apertures, fine apertures, and so forth—meaning that the breath moves in those places. "Whether where it moves up to" cites the aperture of the navel up to the region of the navel, meaning the breath enters the body and moves up to the region of the navel. "Whether as it moves" cites the aforementioned inhalation and exhalation, counting one as one and so forth; at other times of breathing, it moves in accordance with regular or reverse sequence. "Whether when it moves" cites the aforementioned time of the practitioner, counting one as one, up to ten tens as one, the length or shortness of duration, continuity, and so forth; this is called moving in time—meaning that during such an amount of time, the counting of breaths should proceed. Because it is later brought to maturity, it is not cited again.
