論解九種心住中云未必是定中心，但以住一緣即是也。以最初歛心等，未必得定故，故前言是奢摩他品類，非皆奢摩他也。如《對法論抄》會之。

Where the treatise explains the nine states of mind-settling, it states that these are not necessarily minds [absorbed] in meditative concentration, but rather that resting upon a single object is just it. Because initially restraining the mind and the like does not necessarily attain concentration, it was therefore said earlier that they belong to the category of śamatha, not that all of them are śamatha. This is harmonized as in the Commentary on the Abhidharma-samuccaya.
