In the treatise's explanation of the four practices [of the contemplation] of the truth of the path: being able to serve as a road toward the known object of cessation, with the meaning of penetrating inquiry called "road," because a road can lead through to the Dharma being inquired into. Since what is inquired into extends to both the false and the real, this penetrating inquiry being real and not false is called "correctness," because it eliminates the false. Not only can one make real inquiry into the truth of cessation, but one can also know according to reality through the gate of the four truths and adapt to them all, which is called "practice," because it ranges over the four truths. What is the aim of practice ranging over the four truths? Because it can leave behind birth and death and exclusively lead to nirvāṇa, it is called "escape," because it escapes all dust-like defilements.
