In the treatise's explanation of the dhāraṇī capable of obtaining patience, it says: "Ripening natural and firm causal practice": this means that prior to the bhūmis, this patience is called the cause; because it is unshakeable, it is called "unshakeable causal practice." "Endowed with wondrous wisdom": this means ripening the wondrous wisdom that tends toward the supramundane; or, being endowed with wondrous wisdom within the unshakeable causal practice. "Dwelling alone in a secluded and quiet place": this speaks of the dwelling place. "Silent and free from speech": free from verbal clamor. "Having never possessed possessions": this means minimizing affairs and possessing no extraneous material requisites. "Walking while seeing the road": this means when one should not walk, one only walks when the signs of dawn appear, hence it says "walking while seeing the road." Moreover, the place where one walks must show the correct path, unblemished by faults; absence of faults is called a wilderness. Correct principle must be called the "road"; walking in accordance with correct principle is called "walking while seeing the road." "Eating with moderation" and so on can be understood.
