Regarding 'Question: It was already stated before that with ignorance as condition, karmic existence is initiated': wholesome and unwholesome karma, whether already moistened or not yet moistened, are all called existence, because they are able to have a fruit. Here, relying on what has been moistened and is proximately able to have a fruit, it alone obtains the name 'existence'; prior to being moistened, when first created without increase, it is called volitional action. Relying on the preeminence and difference of their senses, each receives its own name. Here, relying on the common sense, it is said that ignorance initiates karmic existence, which is none other than volitional action.
