Eighth, in the fourfold analysis: they need not necessarily be links, as they are spoken of broadly. In the second proposition for ignorance, not mentioning the indeterminate-obscured distinct retribution of karmic fruits is due to abbreviation; in the subsequent second proposition, not mentioning indeterminate-obscured consciousness is likewise so. Regarding "Or there may be craving that is not conditioned by feeling, namely seeking superior liberation and abandoning other cravings based on wholesome craving": the class of desire for wholesome dharmas is termed craving that seeks liberation. As for all wholesome craving that dispassionately abandons greedy craving, it does not arise conditioned by feeling that conforms to craving. It is not that feeling is absent simultaneously with or prior to craving; because there is no feeling that conforms to craving, it is said not to be a condition, so there is no contradiction. In principle, here it should conform to the latter proposition: whatever is craving is necessarily produced conditioned by feeling; there are feelings serving as conditions that are not craving, namely the remaining subsequent links.
