In the gate of establishment, discrimination is made through five gates: first, establishing the samāhita-bhūmi; second, establishing the joy and pleasure born of separation, and so forth; third, establishing the hindrances; fourth, establishing the limbs; fifth, establishing alternate names. In establishing the bhūmi, as for "because these absorptions and so forth are induced by absence of regret, delight, and ease-and-pleasure": because one upholds the precepts, the mind has no regret; because there is no regret, there is delight; because there is delight, there is ease-and-pleasure; and because of ease-and-pleasure, one attains samādhi. Therefore, this samāhita is not found in the desire realm, nor is it that the desire realm is entirely without correct and close observation of phenomena.
