Second, concerning the emergence of their essential nature: Both the Abhidharmasamuccaya and the Prakaraṇāryavācā state: The first two abhibhvāyatanas arise from the first vimokṣa; the next two abhibhvāyatanas arise from the second vimokṣa; the last four abhibhvāyatanas arise from the third vimokṣa. Within the pure vimokṣa, the initial two saṃjñās of the pure and the impure mutually contrast with and mutually penetrate one another. In this manner of mutual [penetration], universally combining all forms into a resolute concept of a single taste of purity is called "mutual single taste." Therefore, the last four abhibhvāyatanas arise from the third vimokṣa. Hence, the essential nature of these eight is precisely the previous three vimokṣas.
