安惠已前諸古德等，皆說二分是計所執，護法已後方計三、四依他分也。實有四分，今說三者，隱而不說，以對他故，義准知故，順陳那故，略敘宗故，非極研尋，故且不說。第二卷中，自當建立。

Prior to Sthiramati, all the ancient masters said that the two parts are parikalpita; only after Dharmapāla did they posit three and four paratantra parts. In reality there are four parts; that he now speaks of three is to leave it implicit without speaking of it, because it is addressed to opponents, because the meaning can be known by inference, because it accords with Dignāga, and because it briefly outlines the tenet; since it is not an exhaustive investigation, he temporarily does not speak of it. In the second fascicle, it will naturally be established.
