然准釋論之意，可知本師亦爾。不爾，本師豈不令法久住，利樂諸有情也！就初頌中，上之兩句歸敬福田，下之二句敘釋論意。

However, by analogy with the intention of the commentary, one can know that the root master was likewise. Were it not so, how could the root master fail to cause the Dharma to abide long and bring benefit and joy to all sentient beings? Within the first verse, the first two lines take refuge in and pay homage to the field of merit, while the lower two lines narrate the intention behind explaining the treatise.
