1.467

「法」有二種：一、能轉，謂得可愛身因，即得生死勝身之因；二、能還，謂離染緣，正智喜因，即出世間之因，正智正因也。

'Merit' (dharma) has two kinds: first, that which causes transmigration, namely, the cause of attaining a desirable body, which is the cause of attaining an exalted body in saṃsāra; second, that which causes return, namely, the cause of delighting in correct knowledge upon departing from defilement, which is the cause of transcendence of the world, the correct cause of correct knowledge.
