述曰：此別破也。於中有五：一、總破諸句；二、別破實、德；三、又總破諸句；四者，別破大有等三；五者，總結破諸句義。或分為三：初總破諸句；二、別破有等；三、結破諸句。初中有三：一、總破；二、破實、德；三、復合破。若准五段科，初中有二破：一、破常諸句；二、破無常諸句。破常中有二：一、難生果；二、難不生。此即初也。

The Commentary states: This is the specific refutation. In this there are five parts: first, generally refuting all the categories; second, specifically refuting substance and quality; third, again generally refuting all categories; fourth, specifically refuting the three including great existence; fifth, concluding with a general refutation of the categories. Or it may be divided into three: first, generally refuting all categories; second, specifically refuting existence and so forth; third, concluding by refuting the categories. In the first there are three: first, general refutation; second, refuting substance and quality; third, combining and refuting again. If following the fivefold outline, in the first there are two refutations: first, refuting the eternal categories; second, refuting the impermanent categories. In refuting the eternal there are two: first, pressing on those that produce effects; second, pressing on those that do not produce effects. This is the first.
