述曰：下以量斥，於中有三：初、難實有，別舉體相及作用因；二、合難體用；三、別難實有。初中有三：一、舉有法及難體因；二、舉難用因；三、顯其宗法以結於假。此即初也。

The Commentary states: Below is the refutation through formal inference. Within this there are three parts: first, challenging their real existence by separately citing the reasons of entity/marks and functioning; second, challenging entity and functioning together; third, separately challenging real existence. In the first part there are three: 1. citing the subject (dharmin) and the reason challenging the entity; 2. citing the reason challenging the functioning; 3. demonstrating the property to be proved (sādhya-dharma) to conclude that they are nominal. This is the first.
