The Commentary states: By virtue of this reasoning, one knows that the phrase "is also like this" in the verse is stated according to what is appropriate. Whether earlier or later, sought in terms of nature or marks, whenever an analogy should properly be applied and accords with reasoning without contradiction, the analogy is immediately made; it does not mean that every single aspect is made analogous. How many doors does this analogy encompass? Namely, there are six doors: the previous second master drew an analogy shared with five doors, and now "abandonment" is added, according to what is appropriate; as for the rest that are not analogized, they can be known by inference from the meaning. Because the analogy is drawn in the middle according to the convenience of the text, an analogy to the state of abandonment is also permissible. Wishing to reveal that both earlier and later [aspects] have what is analogous and what is not analogous, the analogy of contact and the others is stated in the middle. If the analogy were stated only in the very last line, one might fear that all [aspects] would be taken as fitting to be analogized. Although there has been much text above, it was not the direct explanation of the root consciousness, but an analysis of meaningful doors analogizing contact and the others to it.
