述曰：第五文第十義者。有義：雖通後報，唯欲界起，上界無外道說法力故，惠解不如人故，明六天亦不起。此師設：上界不起亦成後報，欲界退失復定還得故。若退已生下三定，必不能起，無外緣故，惠解劣故。五十六說先於此起，後於色界受報，不言後於色界起定也。

The Commentary states: This is the tenth topic in the fifth section of the text. Some say: Although it extends to retribution in later [lives], it is generated only in the kāmadhātu, because in the higher realms there is no power of non-Buddhists expounding teachings, and discernment and understanding [there] are not equal to those of humans; this clarifies that it is not generated even in the six desire heavens. This master hypothesizes: Even if it is not generated in the higher realms, it still constitutes retribution in later [lives], because if one retrogresses and loses it in the kāmadhātu, one regains the concentration again. If, having retrogressed, one is born into the lower three dhyānas, one definitely cannot generate it, because external conditions are absent and discernment and understanding are inferior. [Yogācārabhūmi] fascicle 56 states that one first generates it here, and later experiences retribution in the rūpadhātu, without saying that one later generates the concentration in the rūpadhātu.
