次下問答識起之由，即是第三釋諸外難。廣釋前第一頌中「由假說我法，有種種相轉」，於中有七頌，合為二段。初二頌釋理違；次五頌釋教違。

Next follows a question and answer on the causes of the arising of consciousness, which is the third section: resolving the external objections. It elaborates upon the line in the first verse, "Due to metaphorical designation of self and dharmas, there is the evolution of various aspects." Within this there are seven verses, combining into two sections: the first two verses resolve contradictions with reason; the next five verses resolve contradictions with teaching.
