The Commentary states: Vasubandhu and others state: This ground reaches culmination with respect to effortful practice; although all signs cannot move or shake it, with respect to signlessness it is still called having practice. The Daśabhūmika-śāstra states: "Because skillfully cultivating effort in signless practice reaches culmination, being able to surpass the worldly paths and the supramundane paths of the two vehicles." As for this ground transcending the worldly paths and the paths of the two vehicles: although in the preceding six grounds there was dependent origination without duality of defiled and pure, there was still the obstacle of the actual activity of subtle signs to be remedied, because of grasping the marks of arising, ceasing, transmigration, and cessation, and thus one was not yet able to initiate superior practice of existence within emptyness; now on this ground, being far removed from that obstacle, one is also able to initiate superior practice of existence within emptyness, able to remedy that obstacle, which the two vehicles and worldly beings cannot do.
