The Commentary states: From here on, the second part expands upon the previous meaning of existence. Within this there are two parts: first, the correct explanation; afterwards, the critical analysis. This is the correct explanation. It means that because of this consciousness serving as the active support stated in the second line, it holds the defiled seeds of the first line. Saying that "realm" is cause refers to the seed-consciousness. These defiled seeds that accord with phenomena of transmigration can produce active manifestations, causing sentient beings to transmigrate through birth and death. Active defiled phenomena are called transmigration; seed defiled phenomena are called according with transmigration; dharmas that constitute contaminated states are all called transmigration. Fascicle four of the Abhidharma-samuccaya-vyākhyā states: "What is transmigration? It refers to all birth and death." That is, the former accords with the latter; its entity accords with its function. If so, then contaminated suffering and origination should all be called transmigration; why does the verse specifically speak of "the destinies"?
