The Commentary states: The second part is subsumption under phenomena. Because this material nutriment takes three bases as its nature, the substance of contact and volition consists of the mental factors of contact and volition, and the substance of the nutriment of consciousness extends to all eight consciousnesses, the third fascicle of the Abhidharmasamuccaya and the fifth fascicle of the Abhidharmasamuccaya-bhāṣya state that they take a portion of three aggregates, five bases, and eleven elements as their substance. The three aggregates are rūpa, saṃskāra, and vijñāna; the five bases are the bases of fragrance, taste, tangibility, mind, and dharmas; the eleven elements are the seven mind-elements and the elements of fragrance, taste, tangibility, and dharmas. However, their statement 'a portion' is abbreviated here. Those texts extend to both sāsrava and anāsrava, whereas here only sāsrava is taken. Furthermore, since they extend to outflowing, nurturing, resultant, non-resultant, the three natures, the three feelings, and so forth, why are they called 'nutriment'?
