The Commentary states: This concludes generally. Only the eighth consciousness stores all dharmas and is the seed-consciousness, called ālayavijñāna. Because the World-Honoured One explains it only for the excellent, the six consciousnesses are not so; by turning this around, it can be understood. The third verse is a verse from the Saṃdhinirmocana-sūtra; the fifty-first fascicle of the Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra and so on are identical to this text.
