The Commentary states: That is, in a distracted mind that does not focus exclusively, no concentration arises. Although the seventh consciousness also cognizes distinct objects, because it operates on objects without focusing the mind exclusively and does not grasp deeply, it is not conjoined with concentration, as was explained previously in fascicle five. Therefore, that and this do not contradict each other, because here shifting objects is also called concentration, provided it can grasp deeply.
