The Commentary states: From here below, the six categories of mental factors (caitasika) are re-explained. In this, there are two parts: first, stating what is explained to generally encourage the arising of the teaching; second, explaining [them] accordingly. This is the first. Within the explanation, the main text has two parts: first, specifically elucidating the mental factors with five verses; second, generally investigating whether mental factors and the mind (citta) are one or different. Within the first, there are five sections: first, one verse distinguishes two categories; next, one verse distinguishes the wholesome (kuśala) category; next, half a verse distinguishes the affliction (kleśa) category; next, two verses distinguish the secondary affliction (upakleśa) category; finally, half a verse distinguishes the indeterminate (aniyata) category. Within distinguishing two categories with one verse, there are two parts: first, a question introduces the śāstra's topic; second, the question is answered accordingly.
