The Commentary states: This explains the aforementioned 'lack of self-determination': the body lacks self-determination and cannot control itself, and the mind lacks self-determination. Regarding 'the mind is extremely obscure and feeble, functioning through only one sense-gate': there is solely the one mental consciousness and none of the five consciousnesses; because it operates obscurely and feebly, there is no moment of clarity. This is said to distinguish it from other minds which also have the five consciousnesses, have obscurity and dullness, but lack moments of clarity.
