The Commentary states: Sleep takes the two dharmas of volition (cetanā) and ideation (saṃjñā) as its substantial reality. Why is this? Because it wills and conceives the manifold objects of dreams. Because of this, it is also established based on other [factors]. How is it known that these two individually depend [on them]? Because these two dharmas have no separate substantial reality: first, through reasoning, as explained above; second, through the teachings, one therefore knows that they have no separate substantial reality.
