The Commentary states: This shows that the citta and associated mental factors of the ripened fruit in the future life serve as causal conditions with respect to their own respective fruits, because seeds directly generate fruits. This distinguishes them from the previous karmic seeds; that is, it shows that nominal seeds generate fruits inexhaustibly, and can generate whatever is to be generated. Taking citta as primary, it only speaks of generating citta, but it actually pervades the five aggregates. This phrase "future lives" can be understood either as the three periods of a single state, or as the three periods of birth and death, and so forth. This concludes the explanation of the upper four characters of the second verse-line.
