The Commentary states: This refers only to their own nature; even if it involves a different nature, they must correspond. That is, wholesome karma determinately leads to the eighth consciousness of humans and gods, not to the bad destinies, because they correspond. Therefore, having a distinct nature that does not correspond does not act as a cause. That is, phenomena of their own realm act as causes for their own realm; within their own realm, their own nature acts as a cause for their own nature; within their own nature, matter acts as a cause for matter; within matter, the internal acts as a cause for the internal; within the internal, the nourished acts as a cause for the nourished; and so forth. The same applies to seeds of one's own vehicle with respect to the conditioned and unconditioned fruits of one's own vehicle. That is, the cause of purification. Discussing this in terms of realm, it is narrow; discussing this in terms of nature, it is broad. It is the same in the Great Treatise and others. Because the result is easy [to understand], it is not stated, meaning that regarding conditioned things, the cause can produce the result; and if regarding unconditioned things, the cause can realize that result. When the differentiated power and its own nature correspond, it is called 'determinate'; because it is not shared with others, it is called 'distinct'.
