The Commentary states: Although we know that the projecting cause in the *Bodhisattvabhūmi* also contains seeds of cause-condition that are productive causes, yet relative to the generating [cause] it is distant; because it has not yet been moisturized, and having committed evil deeds one does not immediately receive [retribution], and because it is distant, the karmic seeds are prominent while the characteristics of direct nominal seeds are concealed. Consequently, its seeds of cause-condition are not mentioned, and karmic seeds are spoken of as projecting. Therefore, the projecting cause is not mentioned [as productive], and in principle there is no contradiction.
