The Commentary states: If it is an undefiled mind, it must be the manifestation of one of the two contemplations of emptiness; if a defiled mind necessarily has dharmagrāha, then since preparatory wisdom has dharmagrāha, how could it guide the wisdom of emptiness to manifest? For fire is not caused to arise from water, nor does darkness coming first guide light to arise.
