The Commentary states: Answering the second question and revealing the distinction between the two [natures]. The substantive events of the consciousness and so forth upon which these two rely are truly born from conditions; this nature is not non-existent and is called other-dependent, because it is born from the condition of the seeds of false discrimination. This master means: only the self-verifying part has other-dependent existence; the grasped and the grasper, the nimitta- and darśana-bhāgas, are the imagined, because, like turtle hair and the like, they are non-existent dharmas.
