難不相應中：《顯揚》第十八云：諸不相應皆有二失，故是假有。一因過失；二體過失。因過失：若生生故名之為生，是則無別果生可得；若生所生名之為生，是則不應名能生等。廣如彼說，今應難云。

Regarding the refutation of the non-concurrent [formations]: The eighteenth fascicle of the Prakaraṇāryavācā states: 'All non-concurrent [formations] have two faults and are therefore nominal existents: first, the fault of the cause; second, the fault of the essence.' The fault of the cause: 'If arising is called arising because it gives birth, then no distinct arising of a fruit can be found; if arising is called arising because it is that which is arisen, then it should not be called that which can give birth, and so forth.' It is as extensively explained there, and one should frame the refutation accordingly now.
