破小乘真事中有三：初總非；次別顯；後結依。別顯中有三：初顯不依真，唯依共相轉；次顯詮智有勝功能，亦非離此等是；後總申假說，不依真事，然假智、詮，必依聲起等是。由此但依下結假智所依。

In refuting the real entities of the Hīnayāna, there are three parts: first, a general negation; next, specific elucidation; finally, concluding what is relied upon. Within the specific elucidation, there are three parts: first, elucidating that it does not rely on the real, but operates solely relying on common characteristics; next, elucidating that the designating cognition has superior functions, and also 'it is not that apart from this,' etc., are of this kind; finally, generally stating that provisional designations do not rely on real entities, but provisional cognitions and designations necessarily arise relying on sounds, etc., are of this kind. From 'Therefore, relying only upon' below concludes that upon which provisional cognition relies.
