Regarding "arising from absorption," the *Yogācāra Notes* explains: first, arising auditory consciousness is called "arising"; second, arising the absorbed mind and an auditory consciousness cognizing sound is called "arising"; third, emerging from absorption is called "arising." Because the first continues the preceding stage, these matters are detailed in the sixth [fascicle] of *Buddhabhūmi[-śāstra]*. In the bodhisattva's subsequent wisdom, arising the five consciousnesses also arises in the state of equipoise. The statement in the *Abhidharmasamuccaya* is based on the partial [nature] of the two vehicles and the complete [absence] in ordinary beings.
