Cognitive form has two [senses]: First, the reflected image form is named "cognitive form"; why then does it resemble the original object? Second, the seeing part is named "cognitive form"; why does it not resemble it? Answer: The reflected image is named "cognitive form"; it is the aspect and character of the active understanding of the seeing part, and the activity of the seeing part is simply the feature of the object. The seeing part is named "cognitive form" because it acts within the substance of the object. Just as non-conceptual wisdom has no aspect or character, so it may or may not resemble [the object]. Furthermore, it is not necessarily the case that the reflected image form uniformly resembles the object, for when unconditioned phenomena are the intentional object, it does not resemble them.
