〈三十八〉既說無記攝士用，即田、水等，故知別法亦名士用。不爾，無記應無此因，六種依處俱說無記故。既知作用、士用、依處即田、水等，明知士用果不唯假者得。

Since Chapter 38 explains that the indeterminate subsumes puruṣakāra, which refers to fields, water, and so forth, one knows that distinct phenomena are also termed puruṣakāra. Otherwise, the indeterminate should lack this cause, because the six kinds of bases are all spoken of as indeterminate. Since it is known that operation, puruṣakāra, and bases are simply fields, water, and so forth, it is clear that the puruṣakāra-phala is not obtained solely by nominal persons.
