That the dependent nature has no spontaneous arising has two meanings: first, uncaused spontaneous arising, mentioning this subsumes all that is uncaused; second, arising with spontaneity as a cause, mentioning this subsumes all arising from unequal causes such as the unmanifest primal nature (pradhāna). Because there is neither this uncaused spontaneous arising nor this spontaneous arising from an unequal cause, it is called 'spontaneously unarisen'. In the dependent nature, there are also uncaused and evil causes, which are multiple perverse attachments; why does it solely refute spontaneous arising? Answer: For now, it mentions spontaneity, and other unequal causes are all subsumed under this. This discussion of the three naturelessnesses refutes [attachments], not other superimpositions. The remaining approach of underestimation is contradicted by the three natures; therefore, it does not refute the uncaused.
