四、科釋本文者，有三：一、辨年主，如疏所明；二、明支分者，謂諸菩薩所造論意，非但為弘佛經，亦為廣顯瑜伽中義，詮教不同，略有十支，支謂支分，並是瑜伽所有支分。

Fourth, regarding the outline and explanation of the main text, there are three parts: first, distinguishing the period and masters, as clarified in the Commentary; second, clarifying the branches: that is, the intention of the various bodhisattvas in composing the treatises was not only to propagate the Buddha's sūtras, but also to broadly elucidate the meanings in the *Yogācāra[-bhūmi]*. As their doctrinal expositions differ, there are briefly ten branches; "branches" means branch components, all of which are branches belonging to the *Yogācāra[-bhūmi]*.
