The nineteen starting with those practicing eradication: 1. those practicing eradication; 2. those practicing recitation; 3. donors of pure gifts; 4. the aged; 5. the middle-aged; 6. the youth; 7. teachers of conduct (ācāryas); 8. preceptors (upādhyāyas); 9. co-resident and attendant disciples; 10. visitors; 11. managers of monastic affairs; 12. those greedy for material gain and veneration; 13. those who renounce with disgust; 14. those of great learning; 15. those of great merit and wisdom; 16. practitioners of Dharma in accordance with Dharma (dharmānudharmapratipanna); 17. upholders of the sūtras; 18. upholders of the vinaya; 19. upholders of the śāstras. Those starting with ordinary beings are: ordinary beings (pṛthagjanas), those who have seen the truths (dṛṣṭasatya), those in training (śaikṣas), and those beyond training (aśaikṣas). The remainder can be known [accordingly]. Thus the verse says: 'Five, four, three, three, four, three, two, and three, seven, nineteen, four, four, and one; therefore, sentient beings are called "all".'
