The treatise: 'Therefore, possession is completely useless for dharmas.' The second [view] states: What is transformed by consciousness is not separate from sentient beings; thus inanimate dharmas are also not separate from sentient beings. Non-existent dharmas are called dharmas separate from sentient beings. The former view says there is possession; the latter says there is no possession. Question: Since it is said that non-existent dharmas are devoid of essence, what dharma can be called 'separate'? Answer: That non-existent dharma is nominally called 'separate'; it is not that having a non-essence is called being separate from sentient beings. Speaking of the original nature of non-existence, not in terms of transformation by consciousness, being non-existent is called 'separate.'
