5.32

受分二中，苦通無漏，憂根不通。西明解云：五識相應苦受，從後得智大悲力，親所引生故通無漏。《要集》斷云：有釋為勝。今謂此釋與本《疏》中第二解同，約何為勝。

Regarding the division of sensation into two, painful sensation extends to the undefiled (anāsrava), but the faculty of grief does not. Ximing explains: the painful sensation associated with the five consciousnesses is directly induced by the power of great compassion from the subsequently attained cognition (pṛṣṭhalabdha-jñāna), and therefore extends to the undefiled. The Yaoji judges: "Some explanations are superior." We now say: this explanation is identical to the second explanation in the original commentary; on what basis is it deemed superior?
