7.208

問：菩薩故意未斷煩惱、但斷所知，斷所知時，煩惱應壞。何以故？《勝鬘經》云：若無明大地壞，彼一切隨眠壞故。

Question: When a bodhisattva intentionally has not severed defilements, but only severs the cognitive [obstacle], when the cognitive [obstacle] is severed, the defilements should be destroyed. Why? The Śrīmālā-sūtra says: If the ground of avidyā is destroyed, all those anuśayas are destroyed.
