Answer: It corresponds to the previous three fruits. According to the Yogācārabhūmi, they must further cultivate the contemplations of skillfulness. Depending on what has not yet been severed, they may sever them suddenly, as in sudden departure; or, without emerging from contemplation, sever them sequentially and gradually, because they no longer take the śrāvaka fruit. If an arhat emerges in an era without a Buddha, they only cultivate skillfulness to sever the remaining residual impressions (vāsanā) and temper their faculties to become superior, there being no defilements to sever. However, when the thirty-fourth fascicle of the Yogācārabhūmi says, "Furthermore, all of them should be known as originally heading solely toward tranquility," it is spoken based on the class that does not encounter a Buddha; with the exception of the rhinoceros-horn-like ones, if the others encounter a Buddha, they become of indeterminate gotra.
