Answer: There are two explanations. One says they grasp together: induced and produced by the power of abhijñā, what fault is there in grasping far away? Just as faculties of the desire realm have nurturance and so forth, since they produce consciousness together, this should also be like that. The second says they do not grasp together: the statement regarding the power of samādhi and so forth is based on consciousness cognizing objects; furthermore, if the vipāka [faculty] could produce that clairvoyance, why would it be necessary to give rise to those divine eye and ear faculties? Also, in the same place, karmic powers differ, and seeing and so forth are distinct; occupying the same place while producing them distinctly, what fault is there? According to the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa, the acquired divine eye is situated above the physical eye, guiding that physical eye so that it can also see far away.
