答：謹按疏主《瑜伽鈔》中而有兩釋。一同此疏，二云：一、依意根，即是末那；二、眼等根，由彼眼識依眼取境，令彼意識取境分明，由是五根名長養意，五隨舉一名二依也。

Answer: Respectfully consulting the Commentator's Notes on the Yogācāra, there are two explanations. The first is identical to this Commentary. The second says: first, relying on the mental faculty, which is manas; second, the eye and other faculties—because that eye consciousness relies on the eye to apprehend objects, causing that mental consciousness to apprehend objects clearly; on this basis, the five faculties are called nourishers of the mind, and mentioning any one among the five constitutes the two bases.
