答：謂曾、現見色及此種子，如眼界相，耳、鼻、舌、身、意界相亦爾。准上諸文十八界別，故不可以識等種子以為根也。《對法》既云及此種子，明眼等根別有種現，非識等種，事乃明矣。

Answer: 'It refers to past and present seeing of form and its seed; as with the characteristic of the eye-dhātu, the characteristics of the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind-dhātus are also like this.' Based on the above passages, the eighteen dhātus are distinct; therefore, one cannot take the seeds of consciousness and the like to be the faculties. Since the Abhidharmasamuccaya-bhāṣya says 'and its seed', it is clear that the eye and other faculties separately have seeds and active manifestations, and are not the seeds of consciousness and the like; the matter is thus evident.
