釋曰：今生六年苦行之事，亦得名為示業果也。經言：過去罵迦葉佛，今受六年苦行報者亦化之耳。化宜聞故，止餘惡故。

Explanation: The event of six years of austerities in this life can also be called manifesting the fruition of karma. When the sūtra states that reviling Kāśyapa Buddha in the past resulted in experiencing the retribution of six years of austerities now, this too is just a transformation. It was because the transformed beings were suited to hear this, and in order to halt other evils.
