釋曰：細意識也。有意識轉者，有別轉識，謂與信等、貪等相應，樂苦受俱分別意識後後位轉。

The exposition states: This is the subtle mental consciousness. 'A mental consciousness turns' means: there is another evolving consciousness, that is, a conceptual mental consciousness associated with faith and so on, or greed and so on, accompanied by pleasant or painful feelings, which operates in subsequent states.
