Explanation: Although they understand that there are only conditioning factors without a self, because the mind taking conditioning factors as an object is still dim and weak, they repeatedly ponder 'Where am I?'; that very thought of 'I' can become an obstruction, and they then cling to the non-existence of self, no longer mindfully reflecting that there are only conditioning factors. Therefore, they give rise to panic regarding nirvāṇa. The Abhidharmasamuccaya-bhāṣya states: 'The innate extreme view is subsumed under the view of annihilation. Due to this view, their mind turns back and generates great fear regarding the realm of nirvāṇa, thinking: "Where is my 'self' now?"' However, where the Commentary mentions Fascicle 88, there are two interpretations: First, mistaking six for eight; second, citing eight to include six. Fascicle 86 is what is directly cited, but Fascicle 88 also contains a passage on the view of annihilation, hence it is mentioned together. In citing the additional to indicate the primary, it did not mention six.
