5.98

有義：今助前師救初難云：論：隨轉理言善、不善，實通無記，救後難云：憂為第八，捨為第三，說憂定成依多分說，謂除生死，餘位憂根，恒相續故。

One opinion holds: I now assist the former master in rescuing against the first objection, saying: The treatise, following the provisional principle, says it is wholesome and unwholesome, but in reality it extends to avyākṛta. Rescuing against the latter objection, saying: Grief is the eighth and equanimity is the third; saying that grief is definitely possessed is stated on the basis of the majority, meaning that except for birth and death, in the other states the grief faculty is constantly continuous.
