按《顯揚論》第十八云：「問：以誰為先？誰為建立？誰和合故？何法生耶？答：自種子為先；除所依種，外所餘若色、非色所依及業以為建立；伴及所緣境為和合故；如其所應，欲繫、色繫、無色繫及不繫諸法生。」《大論》同之。

According to the Prakaraṇāryavācā, fascicle 18: 'Question: Taking what as precursor? Established by what? Through the harmony of what? What phenomena arise? Answer: Taking their own seeds as precursor; established by that which remains outside the basis-seed, whether material or immaterial bases, and karma; through the harmony of companions and objective conditions; accordingly, phenomena bound to the desire realm, bound to the form realm, bound to the formless realm, and unbound arise.' The Great Treatise (Yogācārabhūmi) agrees.
