問：斷既前後何名體一。二乘斷惑所知應斷。以體一故。又十地中斷所知障煩惱應斷。一即體同。二契經言如地壞時種隨壞故。

Question: Since the severing occurs earlier and later, how can they be called a single substance? When the two vehicles sever defilements, the knowable [hindrance] should also be severed, because their substance is one. Furthermore, when the hindrance to the knowable is severed in the ten bhūmis, afflictions should also be severed: first, because their substance is the same; second, because the sūtra says that just as when the earth is destroyed, the seeds are destroyed along with it.
